PS Vita ~ Common Questions

I often post pictures of my PS Vita’s which naturally draws curiosity from people who either become interested in the system or have always had an interest but wish to know more. I have compiled a list of frequently asked questions below

Should I get a PS Vita?
As a fan of the system, I would tell you yes especially if the array of games available for the system interest you enough. That being said, PS Vita’s are no longer easy to come by if you live in North America since the system in my opinion, was not executed properly to it’s audience. I think the major drawback to this system is the price of the memory card (sold separately) which is pretty much more than a quarter of the cost of the console itself.

What games should I get?
This is a personal preference and I would suggest you look up games available for the system in the genre you are interested in. I can only recommend otome and some JRPG titles since these are the only type of games I play on the system. You can visit the PlayStation Store to see a list of all the PS Vita games available by clicking here.

What is the difference between the PS Vita Original and the PS Vita Slim?

PS Vita Original (a.k.a. PCH-1000 series)
☆ OLED screen (contrast levels are much better)
☆ Thicker and heavier
☆ Only comes in Black
☆ Battery life isn’t as great

PS Vita Slim (a.k.a. PCH-2000 series)
☆ LCD screen (lower contrast levels and the colours aren’t as vivid)
☆ Slimmer and lighter
☆ Comes in different colours (although some colours are exclusive to certain countries so you may need to pay more to get the one you want)
☆ Better battery life

What memory card size should I get?
This is always hard to advise on since I do not know how many games you will end up downloading. You may think it’s only a few games at first but as the PlayStation Store updates their weekly sale options, you may become curious and want to try this game or that game. Downloading games from the online store takes up more space than if you were to buy a physical copy (since the actual game does not need to be downloaded onto your memory card). Each game has their own file size (some of course larger than others) so I would suggest you look at a few games you want to download from the online store to give you a better idea. Personally, I have two 32 GB’s which I find to be more than enough even though I download games from the online store quite often.

How many PS Vita’s do you own?
I have three in total. One is the PS Vita Original and the other two are PS Vita Slim’s. The original vita was a gift from me to my boyfriend. I also own a black Vita and a pink/white Vita. The black Vita was purchased around the time the system first came out but I had always wanted the pink/white one. I now use the black Vita for my primary PlayStation account and the pink/white Vita I use for my Japanese account. The system only limits you to one user ID so this gives me a chance to check out what is available in Japan (which is WAY better in my opinion).
